The reason for slowness of websites usually caused by one of the following:

A. Text files are not being compressed.
Compression can be enabled for a website if it's hosted on either of the platforms we offer.
1. For Linux, this can be enabled by adding the following to your .htaccess file in the public root directory.

# compress the files
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css text/javascript application/x-javascript

2. For IIS, submit a request to our support to have compression enabled for your site, include the domain name to enable compression for.

B. Images are full size or larger than they should be, not having been optimized for web.
To optimize photos for a web-page there are several tools available, here are a few:

1. Using a free web based tool such as Web Resizer - http://webresizer.com
2. Using an editor installed on your local computer, then open the image and re-size to the size necessary for the web page.
2a. A free solution is downloading GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).
2b. A paid solution is Adobe PhotoShop Elements (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/).
