Postini service is a "pass thru" spam and malware service that captures messages before they reach you're mail box. Common misconceptions are:

- Postini is a an EMAIL provider.
- If a domains MX records are pointed to the recommended Postini MX records then mail is delivered at Postini.

These two common misconceptions can cause confusion when setting up or supporting email accounts that use Postini for filtering. Because Hostek.com provides email service with excellent spam and virus protection we provide instructions on setting up you're email on our servers only. You will need part of these instructions (step 2a) for configuring Postini to deliver mail, and you will also need the recommended MX records from Postini to configure you're domain to accept mail at postini first, before delivering it to the Hostek.com mail servers.

Basic steps for configuring mail delivery THROUGH Postini:

1. Collect the following information.

a. Hostek.com email server name, provided in the email sent regarding the domain you purchased hosting for OR submit a ticket to our support.

b. The recommended MX records for Postini, should be sent listed in your activation email sent to you by Postini.

2. Point mail from Postini back to Hostek.com for delivery.

Login to you're Postini account, select the Delivery Manager tab, from the drop down select you're "Email config" Org.

Click on the Delivery Manager option and click Edit.

Select the "Use my own email server" option and then populate the first "Email Servers" box with the mail server provided by Hostek.com.

3. Modify the DNS for you're domain name.

If you purchased the domain from us login to the control panel to manage the DNS records. Configure the MX records which may include adding new MX records that match the listed MX records sent in the Postini activation email.

If you purchased you're domain elsewhere
or manage you're DNS elsewhere then you will need to login at the DNS provider or Registrar to manage the DNS. Configure the MX records which may include adding new MX records that match the listed MX records sent in the Postini activation email.

Congratulations!
Now you have configured you're domain to send mail through Postini, and Postini to send mail to the Hostek.com mail servers.

For further configuration of Postini see the Overview and Prerequisites documentation.
