Below we provide information about transferring your domain name over to our registrar and a breakdown of the process (what to expect).

How to order a domain name transfer

  1. First you will need to unlock the domain at it's current registrar and obtain a valid authorization code (sometimes called EPP code) before you start a transfer.
  2. Make sure that the admin contact is set to an email address that is working, as both the new and old registrar will send the transfer instructions to this address.
  3. Once the domain is unlocked, you have the authorization code, and the admin contact is set to your valid email address, you can order the domain transfer from your client area (http://cp.hostek.com). Once logged in, go to "order" and then "transfer Domain" to place a domain transfer order.

Now that you have placed the order here is what to expect.

  • Once you have placed the order we will accept the order and submit it to our registrar.
  • Once it is submitted to our registrar, an e-mail will be sent with the transfer request to the administrative e-mail address that you have the domain set to. This stage is called "Pending owner approval". We cannot proceed until the transfer has been accepted by the owner (administrative contact).
  • The administrative contact will now need to accept the transfer by clicking the link in the transfer request that was sent. Copy and paste the authorization code (or EPP code) in the template and paste it where it is required. Now click the accept box, then submit.
  • Once this is done the transfer will now go into "Pending registry approval". This can take up to 7 business days for it to complete.
  • Once the transfer is complete and transferred to our registrar the name servers will now need to be updated. We will send you a e-mail asking if you want for us to update the name server to point to our server. If you do then please respond to this e-mail letting us know that you would like for us to update the name servers to our server.
  • Once we have updated the name servers propagation time will take 12-24 hours for the DNS to fully propagate.
  • Once the DNS has propagated the process is complete.
