View Full Version : Hosting feature questions

I have the following questions regarding CF9 hosting:

1. Do you support the SOLR search service?
2. Can I invoke Open Office to convert documents?
3. Can I install Java JAR files on the server so that they be invoked via CFOJBECT?
4. Can I edit or debug CFML files via ColdFusion Builder?

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes we support the SOLR search service.
2. We do not have Open Office installed on the server, so you can not invoke that.
3. You can not install JAR files to be invoked.
4. You can use ColdFusion Builder to edit the pages.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the quick response. For editing with CFBuilder, since RDS is not enabled, how does CFBuilder connect to the hosted CF server in order to edit the files?

Second question: I asked about Open Office because I want to be able to convert Office documents to PDF using the new CF9 feature. I assume my only option in this case is to have a dedicated server that I could put the Open Office binaries on for use with CF9. Is this correct?

ColdFusion builder can "Synchronize" with our servers using FTP, to set this up from within ColdFusion Builder right click on the project and select "Synchronize" to setup a new FTP connection.

OpenOffice is installed on our Shared Dedicated hosting servers, see this link to order the Shared Dedicated ColdFusion.

Thanks for the information.

For the CF Shared Dedicated Hosting option, what other differences are there? Can you add Java/JAR files to the server?

The differences are listed on the URL Jon provided. We do not allow JAR files to be installed on the ColdFusion Shared Dedicated Hosting option either.
