We frequently get asked this question. Here are some simple guidelines that seem to work well. Some of you may have better reasons.

First, there are a few factors to consider. For example, if you just want a blog, choose one of the Linux cPanel plans. With a simple click you can install WordPress Blog on your site.

Additionally, here are some reasons to choose or not to choose the following platforms:

Windows Hosting - If you will be using any ASP or .NET development, choose Windows. If you just need a web presence and a basic page, but you want a very nice web mail interface, choose our Windows plan. We use SmarterMail and it has a really great webmail interface. We also support PHP on our Windows servers.

ColdFusion Hosting - If you will be developing in ColdFusion, choose this platform. If you don't know what ColdFusion is, do not choose this platform. Our ColdFusion servers are also Windows servers, with the addition of ColdFusion. We do not support ColdFusion on Linux servers at this time.

Linux Hosting - Linux is very popular due to the popularity of the cPanel control panel. The cPanel control panel has Fantastico integrated with it which allows you to install many applications with a few simple clicks. Generally you would go with this option if neither of the above platforms were needed specifically.
