View Full Version : Using Dreamweaver to Connect to your Database

When using Adobe Dreamweaver, it is possible to connect to your database from within the program to make your Web site development easier.

PHP Developers


First open a PHP file within Dreamweaver, then open the Databases panel by clicking the Window menu and choosing Databases.
In the Databases panel, click the plus icon (+) to add a new connection, and choose the option for MySQL
Now you need to enter the details:
- The name of connection is your choice
- The MySQL Server is the hostname of your Hostek.com MySQL Server (eg. mysql5.hostek.com)
- The username and password are the user you assigned to the database and its password
- For the Database enter the actual name of your database
Once you click OK, Dreamweaver will verify your connection details and save the connection


ColdFusion Developers


Open a ColdFusion file (cfm, cfc), then open the Databases panel by clicking the Window menu and choosing Databases.
In the Databases panel, click the plus icon (+) to add a new connection, and choose the appropriate option for your database (eg. MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server)
Now you need to enter the details:
- The name of connection is your choice
- The Server is the hostname of your Hostek.com Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL Server (eg. sql2.hostek.com or mysql5.hostek.com)
- The username and password are the user you assigned to the database and its password
- For the Database enter the actual name of your database
Once you click OK, Dreamweaver will verify your connection details and save the connection
