View Full Version : How to optimize your MSSQL database

You can clean up indexes and optimize your database by utilizing Maintenance plans in MSSQL.

1) Open the Server Management Studio
Server management Studio 2008 can be downloaded free at
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads /details.aspx?FamilyID=08e52ac2-1d62-45f6-9a4a-4b76a8564a2b&displayLang=en)

2) Open the Tree under Management and Right click it
3) Choose "Maintenance Plan Wizard"

4) On the "Next" screen, choose what you want it to do. You want it to do the following things at night:

- Check database integrity
- Reorganize Index
- Rebuild Index
- Update Statistics
- Clean Up History
